The coverage of archaeological sites at ground level in Spain, from a vision of effective protection
Abstract
his work focuses on the analysis of coverages carried out in the last three decades in the Spanish geographical area associated with the Mediterranean climate. This study proposes a methodology of analysis based on the identification of deterioration factors, inventory of models (according to constructive definition, materiality and adaptability, rainwater evacuation system and maintenance needs), typological classification and analysis of their effectiveness against the action of external agents related to exposure to the climate through environmental control simulation tools. The obtained results show that it is necessary to adjust the design of this type of coverages quite a bit so that they can provide real protection to the analysed archaeological sites. In the same way, based on these obtained results, correct design parameters which will guide future proposals aimed at the effective protection of these heritage sites are provided.
