New tools for environmental control in documentary repositories
the use of Geographic Information Systems in the Heritage Collection A. Wormald Cruz and the Vicente Dagnino Historical Archive.
Abstract
Immersed in a comprehensive risk management plan for documentary collections, the study related to the environmental control in the Alfredo Wormald Cruz Patrimonial Collection [CPWC] and the Vicente Dagnino Historical Archive [AHVD] is presented. It is discussed the possibilities offered by multivariate analysis in the diagnosis and the use of Geographic Information Systems [SIG] as a work methodology capable of quantifying integrally different agents of deterioration involved in the process of degradation of collections. The results obtained, expressed through an alterability index, allow identifying points - spatial and temporal - of greater risk for the conservation of documentary materials kept in deposits.
